At George Green’s Almshouses we are currently looking for 2-3 volunteer trustees to join our Board. Could one of these be you? It’s an opportunity to:
- Contribute towards supporting women’s housing needs in Tower Hamlets
- Make a difference by helping to shape our charity’s future direction
- Develop new connections, experience, and leadership skills
Volunteering as a trustee can be a rewarding opportunity to use your time, skills and knowledge in helping us provide safe and affordable housing for local women.

Our trustees meet in Poplar (with online options) six times a year on Fridays at 1:00pm. In addition, we also have an annual ‘away day’ (also in Tower Hamlets) to consider our strategy in greater depth. The charity has a secretary but no staff, and day-to-day management of our flats is handled by Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest, with strategic input from the trustees. We ask trustees to become more involved by taking on an area that aligns with their interests or expertise.

To apply, please send us your cv and a short statement explaining your interest in the trustee role. If you’d like an informal conversation about what’s involved, please contact Jacinta Balchin (chair) at JacintaBalchin@georgegreensalmshouses.org.uk or Steve Robertson (secretary) at georgegreenalmshouses@gmail.com or on 07714 246 770.
We look forward to hearing from you!
